Independent School teacher receives social studies Excellence in Teaching award
Dave McIntire, a history teacher at the Independent School in Wichita, has received the Judy Cromwell Excellence in Teaching Award from the Kansas Council for the Social Studies, school officials announced Friday.
McIntire, in his 11th year at Independent, teaches seventh-grade world history and eighth-grade American history at the school. He also coaches the middle school Scholar’s Bowl team and has been a Ford’s Theater National Oratory Fellow since 2012.
He is scheduled to receive the award on Monday in Topeka. The award, named in honor of a longtime Kansas teacher, rewards high-quality instruction in social studies.
