Extra security measures were in place at Wichita South High School on Wednesday, after a “vague threat” was found on a note Tuesday at the school, district officials said.

In a message sent to parents, South High principal Cara Ledy said additional officers from the Wichita Police Department and the school district’s security team would monitor all entry doors Wednesday morning and stay through the school day.

“Once inside South High, we will conduct a normal school day with all classes occurring as scheduled,” the note said.

Ledy said the threatening note was found on the floor by a teacher after school Tuesday.

“This note indicated a possible disturbance that was going to occur today at about noon,” Wichita police Lt. James Espinoza said. “It gave a hallway location as well.”
