The crime

The Wichita Police Department continues to ask for the community’s help in locating 5-month-old Vincent Moore.

On Thursday, June 30, 911 dispatchers received a call in reference to a missing child. Both the calling party and the child’s mother were interviewed by the Homicide Section of the Wichita Police Department. The child’s mother has conducted follow-up interviews with police and passed a polygraph examination.

Investigators learned that on or around June 5, the mother dropped the then 4-month-old and a 2-year-old off at their father’s for visitation. A few days later, the mother attempted to contact the father and was unsuccessful. Continued efforts to reach the father and locate the whereabouts of the children were unsuccessful.

On June 30, the mother contacted the Wichita Police Department, and a police case was made. Police also issued an ATL (Attempt to Locate) for the father and the two children. The investigation revealed that the father took the children to Texas, where they remained until July 9. The father returned to Wichita with the children.

Vincent Moore was last seen alive in the early morning hours of July 11 leaving a house in the area of 31st and Hydraulic with his father; the child has not been seen since. Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Deputies located the father and the 2-year-old child on July 29, but Vincent was not located.

Investigators have worked countless hours locating family members and friends of the father in an attempt to find the missing child. The child is still unaccounted for, and no family members or friends have seen the child since July 11.

Family members, friends and law enforcement have heard different accounts of the whereabouts of the child, and all have been proven to be false. The father of Vincent will spend a year in jail on a probation violation.
