A family fight ended with a Wichita woman getting shot in the shoulder Saturday morning.

Police don’t know who did it because family members did not cooperate with investigating officers, said Wichita police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow.

The fight and shooting took place about 5:30 a.m. Saturday in a large family gathering in the yard of a residence in the 500 block of West 34th Street, Woodrow said.

The victim, 19, was taken by ambulance to a hospital with what appeared to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to her left shoulder, Woodrow said. The homicide unit was not called to the scene, she said.

“We’ve got a domestic situation, a large family fight, and an unknown suspect,” she said. “The investigation continues.”
