Wichita police ID man killed near 13th, Waco
The victim of a drive-by shooting Wednesday morning was identified as 26-year-old Bishop Robles.
Robles was shot several times in the front yard of his friend’s house by someone in a blue SUV shortly after arriving with his wife in the 1200 block of North Fairview, Wichita police Lt. Todd Ojile said Thursday.
Two 17-year-old boys were arrested after a police chase Wednesday evening in a stolen car matching the description of the shooter’s vehicle, he said.
Robles was taken to the hospital in critical condition and underwent surgery but did not survive, Ojile said.
Shortly after 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, a blue SUV that was reported stolen Wednesday morning, led police on a chase that ended when the SUV struck several fences and crashed into a car in a driveway in the 3000 block of South Davidson in Planeview.
The two occupants, both 17, were booked on outstanding warrants and auto theft charges, Ojile said. Police were still trying to determine when and how the men obtained the vehicle.
Neither man was booked on suspicion of homicide as of Thursday morning. At least one of the two men in custody had a known gang affiliation, Ojile said.
Ojile said police did not yet know why Robles had been killed.
