A Wichita man was charged Tuesday after police say he abducted a boy around Douglas and Grove and shocked him with jumper cables.

Robert McDowell, 58, was charged with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery, aggravated assault and criminal threat.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 14.

He is being held on a $150,000 bond.

McDowell allegedly abducted the boy at gunpoint around midnight Sunday and brought him to a garage in the 2300 block of East First Street. Police say he then shocked the boy’s ears with jumper cables, questioning him about a recent robbery.
