Wichita man charged with murder in 1-year-old daughter’s death
A Wichita man was charged Monday with one count each of first-degree murder and abuse of a child in connection with the death of his 1-year-old daughter last week.
Michael C. Williams, 29, a restaurant kitchen employee, will face a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Sept. 29 in Sedgwick County District Court.
Williams called 911 emergency dispatchers last Wednesday evening to say his daughter was not breathing, police said then.
Williams was watching the child at their home in the 2100 block of South Hydraulic while the child’s mother was at work, police said.
The mother told police her child had no injuries when she left for work about 2 p.m..
The child had scratches, bruises and trauma to the face when police investigated after her death, police said.
District Judge John Kisner on Monday ordered Williams held on a $250,000 bond in the Sedgwick County Jail.
