Police investigating after shooting on Kellogg badly injures driver
A man in his 30s is in critical condition following a reported drive-by shooting on Kellogg near I-135, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said.
Wichita police Sgt. Paul Duff said officers responded to a call of shots fired in the eastbound lanes of Kellogg near I-135 shortly before 9:15 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses said there was “some sort of disturbance” between two vehicles and shots were fired, striking the driver of a white Chevrolet Suburban, Duff said.
The driver, a man in his 30s, was transported to the hospital in critical condition, according to the dispatcher. Duff said that a passenger in the vehicle was unharmed.
Duff said police are investigating where the shot came from – whether from a car on Kellogg or from someone off the highway.
“We have no idea yet – it’s still an ongoing investigation,” Duff said. “We don’t really have any information other than that.”
He said police “may have some information” on a suspect vehicle but that they were “still trying to track that down.”
If anyone witnessed what happened, Duff is asking people to call police.
Wichita police officers had the far-right eastbound lane of Kellogg blocked off at Washington to investigate late Wednesday.
