Man goes to jail after shooting himself in the foot, police say

A man shot himself in the foot — both literally and figuratively — early Monday, police said.

The mishap occurred at about 2 a.m. Monday in an apartment at 7677 E. 21st, Lt. James Espinoza said. A friend drove him to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of the injury.

Police were called, Espinoza said, and after officers interviewed the 25-year-old man and he was released from the hospital he was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a weapon.

No weapon was located, though evidence was submitted.
