The Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County on Tuesday announced that it has raised $7 million needed to pay for renovating the former Wichita elementary school building it is planning to move into this year.

Renovations of the old Lincoln Elementary School, 1121 S. Emporia, are expected to be completed early this summer, the center said in a news release. The new facility will house nearly 60 employees from eight different agencies, including the Exploited and Missing Child Unit and the Kansas Department for Children and Families, who work with children experiencing abuse or neglect.

More than 300 donors have contributed to the multimillion-dollar capital campaign. The Child Advocacy Center now works out of the basement of the Finney State Office Building at 130 S. Market.
