Small plane’s landing gear buckles at Jabara airport; no injuries
A small plane at Col. James Jabara Airport had a rough landing on Wednesday afternoon.
Around 1 p.m., a Beechcraft Baron with two people on board began its landing procedure at a Jabara runway. After its wheels touched the ground, the landing gear buckled and the plane skidded on its underside until it came to a rest, according to Roger Xanders, chief of airport fire and police.
No injuries were reported, according to a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher.
Xanders said the plane, which is based in Wichita, was still on the runway as of 3 p.m. Crews must wait for a Federal Aviation Administration investigator to arrive and inspect the plane before it can be removed, he said.
