Flight that had emergency landing at Mid-Continent Airport successfully reaches Chicago

A United Airlines flight grounded at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport on Wednesday evening after making an emergency landing didn't leave Thanksgiving travelers stranded for long.

Flight tracking websites show Flight 5240 arrived safely at Chicago's O'Hare Airport around 11 p.m. Wednesday, about 2 1/2 hours later than originally scheduled. The plane had departed from Mid-Continent early Wednesday evening, but returned after experiencing problems with its landing gear, according to emergency radio traffic. More than 40 people were aboard. No one was hurt.

The flight had been scheduled to depart Wichita at 6:27 p.m. and arrive in Chicago at 8:22 p.m., according to flight information posted on Mid-Continent's website, www.flywichita.com.
