Infant girl found dead in south Wichita
A 2-month-old Wichita girl was found dead Thursday morning in what police say is being investigated as an accidental death.
The girl’s body was found in a house in the 4200 block of South Hydraulic at 6:50 a.m. Thursday, near MacArthur Road.
The family called 911, said Wichita police Sgt. Kevin Kochenderfer. A preliminary investigation found no indication of foul play.
Investigators are looking into whether the death resulted from “positional asphyxiation,” Kochenderfer said.
The mother was working overnight and had left the child in the care of the father and other family members, Kochenderfer said.
An autopsy will be conducted, he said.
