Woman’s body found Monday in northwest Reno County creek

The Reno County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a woman who was found Monday afternoon.

In a news release, Sheriff Randy Henderson said the woman’s body was found in a small creek shortly before 2 p.m. near a county road in northwest Reno County.

She was wearing dark athletic clothing and had numerous tattoos, Henderson said. Her age is unknown.

The area where the woman’s body was found at 43rd and Riverton had been closed to traffic during much of the afternoon but was re-opened shortly after 7 p.m.

Henderson released another news release shortly after 8:30 p.m. Monday seeking the public’s help in identifying the woman. He said the woman had a tattoo on her left forearm depicting four paw prints, which might possibly be wolf tracks. There was also a tattoo on her left calf of a vine with colored stars.

Residents in the area told sheriff’s officers they saw two blue pickup trucks, a white Dodge Magnum and three people at a bridge near the creek earlier Monday. Henderson said his office is wanting to talk with those individuals.

No other information has been released.

Henderson said anyone with information can call either the Reno County Sheriff’s Office at 620-694-2735 or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS (8477).
