Woman hurt in early morning house fire
A woman was critically injured in a house fire early Thursday morning in southeast Wichita, authorities said.
The fire was reported at about 1 a.m. Thursday in the 2100 block of South Flynn, acting fire marshal Stuart Bevis said. That’s near Pawnee and Rock Road.
Firefighters responding to the scene found fire in the living room of the house, Bevis said. They found the woman in her bedroom.
She is in her 40s, Bevis said, but she has mobility issues. She was taken to the burn unit of Via Christi Hospital St. Francis, where she was in critical condition suffering primarily from smoke inhalation.
The fire caused an estimated $70,000 in damage to the house and its contents, Bevis said. The cause remains under investigation.
