Police arrest woman after she calls to report stolen bicycle

A woman who called police after her bicycle was stolen Sunday afternoon ended up going to jail herself.

The 27-year-old woman was confronted by a man and woman at Broadway and Murdock at about 1 p.m. Sunday, Lt. James Espinoza said. The woman came up and pushed her off her bicycle; the two took the bike and some cigarettes and money from the victim before leaving.

The victim walked to a park in the 100 block of North St. Francis and saw the two suspects with her bicycle, Espinoza said. She approached them and they ignored her request to return her bicycle.

At that point, she called police. The suspects had left by the time officers arrived. But officers discovered the victim had marijuana in her possession as well as several outstanding warrants, so she was arrested and transported to the Sedgwick County Jail.
