Crash kills Wichita man, 72
A Wichita man has died following a two-vehicle crash in north Wichita on Sunday, according to police.
James McDaniel, 72, died of injuries he received in the crash, said Officer Charley Davidson, a police spokesman.
The crash happened at about 3:45 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 26th and Amidon. Davidson said McDaniel was driving a Chevrolet pickup truck that was traveling east on 26th Street. McDaniel’s 16-year-old grandson was with him in the truck.
After stopping at the intersection and attempting to move through, the Chevrolet was struck by a Ford pickup traveling south on Amidon. The driver of the Ford was a 21-year-old man.
McDaniel and his grandson were both transported to a Wichita hospital following the crash. The driver of the Ford received minor injuries, Davidson said.
