McConnell projects get $60 million
The Air Force this week awarded a $60 million contract for construction work at McConnell Air Force Base through 2022.
Snodgrass & Sons Construction in Wichita is one of six contractors to share in the combined contract, according to the Department of Defense. Other contractors sharing in the award are LGC Global Inc. in Detroit; Comanche Nation Construction in Oklahoma City; Olgoonik Diversified Services in Anchorage, Alaska; Weldin Construction in Palmer, Alaska; and K&K Industries Inc. in Junction City.
McConnell officials said in a statement to The Eagle that the contract is a “Multiple Award Construction Contract” and is not exclusive to preparations for the KC-46 air refueling tanker.
“The program provides … for a wide variety of base construction projects while ensuring effective competition among the six MACC contract holders,” the statement said. “One project for this program is to replace the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in some of the dorms thereby enhancing the quality of life for our Airmen.”
Last week, McConnell opened the first of three new hangars being constructed in preparation for the arrival of the KC-46 later this year.
