CBIZ sells Wichita office to McPherson accounting firm
National accounting and financial services firm CBIZ sold its Wichita office to McPherson-based accounting firm Swindoll, Janzen, Hawk & Loyd, as of Dec. 31.
The office will remain in its current location at 220 W. Douglas, Suite 300. Debbie Sauer has become a principal of Swindoll, Janzen; Anne Downing and Debbie Coan have become partners. All three formerly worked for CBIZ.
Swindoll, Janzen is based in McPherson and merged with a firm in Hutchinson in 2012.
The Wichita office was founded as Poore Dameron in the 1970s but became affiliated with CBIZ beginning in 1998, Sauer said. She said the staff of the Wichita office was interested in becoming locally owned again, so it approached Swindoll, Janzen.
“We were looking for a return to local control,” Sauer said. “We initiated the conversation. They were looking to be in the Wichita market, and they have some local clients here already, so it was just a good fit.”
The Wichita office has 18 to 20 staff members and offers a range of public accounting services, such as audit, taxes, tax planning and consulting, and estate and trust returns. Sauer said the firm has particular experience in construction, nonprofit, employee benefits and grain cooperative sectors.
