Sheppard to leave state insurance office for Kansas Health Institute

Linda Sheppard, special counsel and director of health care policy and analysis at the Kansas Insurance Department, is joining the Kansas Health Institute, according to a news release.

Sheppard will be a senior analyst and strategy team leader on health reform at KHI, looking at state and national reform initiatives and their impact in Kansas, according to the release.

She will begin June 30 but will continue as an adviser at the insurance department through the end of the year.

Before joining the insurance department in 2008, she was deputy attorney general for the Consumer Protection/Antitrust Division of the Office of the Kansas Attorney General. Sheppard also worked in private practice at Shughart Thomson & Kilroy in Kansas City, Mo.

Sheppard has a law degree from the University of Kansas.

The nonprofit Kansas Health Institute, a policy and research organization, was formed in 1995 by the Kansas Health Fondation.
