Cargill to spend more than $50 million expanding Wichita soybean plant
Cargill plans to invest more than $50 million to upgrade and increase the capacity of its soybean processing plant at 1401 N. Mosley.
The company will upgrade the plant’s processing equipment, automation and controls, utilities and more. It expects to increase production by 30 percent when the project is done in 2017.
Cargill has operated the plant since the 1960s alongside its Cargill Dressing, Sauces and Oils refinery plant, which further processes most of the soybean oil produced on the site. Cargill also recently completed a $10 million product line expansion in the refinery. Cargill employs about 70 people at this facility.
