Expectations for Kansas wheat harvest continue to rise
Prospects for the Kansas wheat harvest continue to improve, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The latest USDA estimate for the harvest is 334 million bushels, up from an June 1 estimate of 315 million bushels and a May 1 estimate of 272 million bushels.
If the July 1 estimate is correct, farmers will cut 28 percent more wheat than last year.
Heavy rains in May and into June dramatically improved wheat yield, although it has, at times, caused delays in getting into the field and encouraged crop diseases.
