Maize superintendent on medical leave after surgery
Doug Powers, superintendent of Maize schools, is on medical leave while he recuperates from surgery to address coronary blockages, district officials said Tuesday.
Lori O’Toole Buselt, spokeswoman for the Maize district, said in an e-mail that Powers is “on medical leave for a few weeks in accordance with his doctor’s instructions to speed his recovery.”
Powers is in contact with district personnel, Buselt said, but associate superintendent Marsha Beard is assuming his duties during his absence.
