Randall Myers, who police say ran over a woman riding her bicycle while he returned from celebrating his birthday last week, was charged with two felonies in Sedgwick County District Court on Tuesday.
Myers, 35, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident – both felonies – as well as driving under the influence. His bond was set at $100,000 and his preliminary hearing slated for Jan. 28.
Police say Myers was driving north on South Oliver in the curb lane shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday when he struck a bicycle being ridden by Christina R. Brown, 34, in the 2600 block, near Pawnee. She died at the scene.
Myers, who was driving a company truck, did not stop at the scene, police say. A woman driving behind him called 911 to report the collision and followed the truck to the business where Myers worked. He then took his own vehicle home, where police took him into custody.
A man who was riding a bicycle with Brown was not injured in the incident, police have said.
