Molino’s Mexican Cuisine owners Mario Quiroz and Mara Garza are nearly done with their east-side restaurant, which has been in the works in the former Linkhaus space at 7817 E. 37th St. North since September.
They’re planning to open sometime during the week after the July 4 holiday.
The restaurant is completed, the liquor license is secured, and now, all Quiroz is waiting on is one final inspection.
He gave me a tour late last week of the new space, and it was impressive. The design is sleek and modern, and his contractors came up with an intricate noise-absorbing grid of boxes that double as eye-catching decor on the ceiling. The restaurant also has a big bar area, lots of natural light and an enclosed patio that looks like the best place to sip margaritas I’ve seen in a while.
The new restaurant will have the same menu as the original, which opened at 1064 N. Waco in May 2014, but it’s way larger. Quiroz is also considering keeping it open a little later, but he’s still deciding for sure.
Stay tuned for an exact opening date, but in the meantime, watch my video tour of the new place.
