Charlie’s PizzaTaco has its fancy new food truck on its lot with plans to roll it out sometime next week, said co-owner Tim Holmes.
The restaurant at 602 N. Tyler, which specializes in a pizza that eats like a taco, recently announced plans to open the food truck, which it will park around town serving its favorite menu items, including pizza tacos, bierocks, pizza pups, pizza burgers, salads and more.
It’s fitted with a giant television screen so people waiting can see a video about the restaurant and painted with pictures of menu items.
The owners plan to take it to Pratt occasionally. The original Charlie’s PizzaTaco opened there in 1965 but closed earlier this year after the death of the founder Charlie Hoffman.
Holmes hasn’t decided exactly where or when he’ll debut the truck, but he’ll late me know when he has a date and location.
He has, however, committed to a food truck rally planned for the Wichita Eagle’s back parking lot.
Haunted Food Trucks is a Halloween event scheduled for 5 to 8 p.m. on Oct. 24 at the lot, which is just south of the corner of Waterman and Rock Island. In addition to the new Charlie’s PizzaTaco truck, it’ll also have The Flying Stove, B.S. Sandwich Press, Hopperoni Express, Let’m Eat Brats, the Waffle Wagon and the Brown Box Bakery, which is planning to bring Halloween-decorated cupcakes.
Watch for more information on the event.
