Local restaurants find ways to honor Tanya Tandoc
As Wichita restaurant owners mourn the loss of chef Tanya Tandoc, who was killed a week ago, several are finding ways to honor her and raise money for those closest to her. Among them:
Mort’s Martini Bar, 923 E. First St. N: The Old Town Bar has pledged to donate 20 percent of its revenue from Tuesday through June 18 to Tanya Tandoc’s family and restaurant, Tanya’s Soup Kitchen at 1725 E. Douglas.
Granite City Food & Brewery: Both Wichita locations of this restaurant will donate 20 percent of their tickets July 6 to 11 to Tandoc’s friends, family and restaurant. Customers should tell their servers they are there to support Tanya. Wichita’s Granite City restaurants are at 2661 N. Maize Road and 2244 N. Webb Road.
Doo Dah Diner, 206 E. Kellogg: The popular breakfast restaurant was one of Tandoc’s favorites, and she loved the eggs Benedict, which owners Patrick and Timirie Shibley called Timi’s Benny. In honor of Tandoc, they’ve officially changed the name of the dish to Tanya’s Benny.
