Last-minute options for Valentine’s Day 2016 include art, movies and lots of food and drink

Valentine’s Day is Sunday, which is probably not the most romantic day of the week. But try to look at the positive side: You have all weekend to attempt to make an impression on your beloved.

Though the calendar is not filled with as many wild-and-romantic options as it was last year, when Valentine’s Day was on a Saturday, if you think creatively, you can still come up with a plan. And if you can’t, here’s a list of weekend events that will help.

For music lovers

At the Cotillion, The Lacs will bring their country/hip-hop hybrid sound on Friday, and tribute band Paramount will fill the hall with 1980s-era music on Saturday night. Those who show up at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday can purchase a special Valentine’s Italian dinner of pasta, salad and garlic toast prepared and served by Nancy’s A-Maize-N Sandwiches. Tickets to both are available at www.thecotillion.com.

And at Old Town bar Mort’s, 923 E. First St., duo Erin & Alan, who also happen to be married, will put their chemistry and musical ability on display during a Friday-night gig. Admission is $2.

For art lovers

Paint the Town has Valentine’s sessions open at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 6 p.m. Sunday at its 7011 W. Central location. The classes range from $25 to $35.
