‘The Best Christmas Pageant Ever’ by Wichita Children’s Theatre & Dance Center
The Wichita Children’s Theatre & Dance Center adds to the extensive list of holiday attractions in Wichita with “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever,” based on the book of the same name. The critically acclaimed comedy tells the tale of the delinquent Herdman children, who have been tasked with putting together a church Christmas show. This production is recommended for ages 5 and up.

Cam at Club Rodeo
Country fans who want to see a rising star won’t want to miss Cam at Club Rodeo. Her quiet, acoustic single “Burning House” has sold more than 500,000 copies and this week earned her a Grammy nomination for best country solo performance. Earlier this year, Rolling Stone magazine named Cam one of the “10 New Country Artists You Need to Know.” The singer also has a Miley Cyrus connection: She’s credited with the song “Maybe You’re Right” off of Cyrus’ successful “Bangerz” album. The San Francisco-area native’s first full-length studio album, “Untamed,” comes out Friday. Jake Wiley is the opening act.

Christmas events at Sedgwick County Zoo
There are a couple of options for holiday merriment at the Sedgwick County Zoo this weekend. Season’s Treatings is a chance to see the animals get holiday treats while treating yourself to some hot chocolate or animal-themed gifts at the gift shop. The feeding schedule, which can be found on the zoo’s website, includes everything from orangutans to bald eagles. Later in the day, Santa will be at the barn, and demonstrations featuring animals in a manger will take place.

Eddie Izzard at The Orpheum
An energetic British stand-up comic and actor with an affection for the absurd, Eddie Izzard will bring his eclectic talents to The Orpheum on Monday. You may recognize Izzard from his Emmy-winning comedy special “Dressed to Kill” or the TV series “The Riches” and “United States of Tara” or the films “Ocean’s Twelve” and “Ocean’s Thirteen.”

A Dickens of a Christmas at Cowtown
Help commemorate the 40th anniversary of Christmas at Cowtown with this year’s program, which re-creates scenes from Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” This Victorian Christmas event will also feature children’s activities, carolers and plenty of other old-fashioned fun. On Saturday and Dec. 19, dinner will be served at 6 p.m. The dinner is $26.95 for ages 16 and up and $14.95 for ages 4-15 (price includes admission to Christmas event). Reservations required. Beer and polka party at Barleycorn’s
For music fans who just want something different, there’s a beer and polka party at Barleycorn’s next week. As part of its 35th anniversary tour, Grammy-winning polka stars Brave Combo will be putting their unique mix of accordion, electric guitar – and just about any other instruments you can think of – on display.

Wichita Chamber Chorale: ‘Sounding Joy’
See Wichita’s youngest virtuosos for yourself at “Sounding Joy,” a Wichita Chamber Chorale performance. The regular adult choir will be joined by Riverside Elementary’s Virtuoso Voices on Saturday and the Newton Community Children’s Choir on Sunday for performances of Christmas classics, conducted by Mark Bartel.

Wynonna & The Big Noise Christmas
If you can’t get enough holiday music, here’s a chance to hear some favorites performed by one of country music’s most respected acts. Wynonna Judd’s career spans three decades, five Grammys and more than 30 million albums sold. She and her band The Big Noise will likely also perform songs from their debut album, which releases Feb. 12.

St. Nick 5 Klick and Great Santa Run
Wichita runners have two Christmas-themed races to choose from this Saturday. First, the Saint Nick 5 Klick run will take runners around Sedgwick County Park, with hot chocolate, coffee and doughnuts at the finish line. The Little Dashers 1K run starts shortly afterward, so the little ones can get in on the action, too.
At the same time on the other side of town, the Great Santa Run will take runners on a scenic course that goes south on McLean, alongside the river. There will be a costume contest before the race and a Little Elves Fun Run just afterward.

Kansas Aviation Museum and Santa at Bradley Fair
Time is ticking to get your face-to-face with Santa. He’ll be at the Kansas Aviation Museum on Saturday, where visitors can ask him how to fly his sleigh. Hot chocolate will be available, as will a variety of crafting activities including ornament making. The cost is $3 for kids and $9.50 for adults.
Then on Sunday, St. Nick and his reindeer will be available for visits and pictures at Bradley Fair. Don’t forget your camera to snap your free photos.
