Chamber Chorale’s spring concert is ‘The Creation’
The Wichita Chamber Chorale will perform Joseph Haydn’s “The Creation” in English at 7:30 p.m. Friday. The concert will be at First United Methodist Church, 330 N. Broadway, and will be followed by a reception. The performance will showcase the 36-voice Chamber Chorale, a 30-piece orchestra that includes John Harrison, concertmaster, and three soloists: Lily Guerrero, soprano, Randolph Lacy, tenor, and Charles Turley, bass. The 37-year-old choir is led by Mark Bartel, director of choral music at Friends University and conductor of the Singing Quakers, and is accompanied by organist and pianist Julie Warkentin. Friends of Public Library sale
The Friends of the Wichita Public Library will conclude its annual spring book sale this weekend with some extended hours. The sale, which started Thursday at the Wichita Public Library main branch, 223 S. Main, continues from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The change is the later hours on Friday, added to coincide with the Final Friday gallery crawl. The sale features a variety of used books, albums and films priced at $1 or less. Proceeds from the sale support programs and services at the Wichita Public Library.
Bike fashion show
Bike Beautiful is the name of a fashion show being put on by Bike Walk Wichita on Thursday at Fisch Haus Studios, 524 S. Commerce. The show, which will start at 7 p.m., will showcase bike-friendly fashion trends, cycling clothing and accessories and more. Attendees will get a free swag bag, beverages and appetizers.
