Introducing the Wichita Eagle All-Metro softball team for 2025 season

The Wichita area featured some of the best high school softball players in Kansas this season, and that star power is highlighted on 2025 All-Metro team selected by The Eagle.

The All-Metro squad features the top players and coaches from teams in Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties. Selections are based on statistics, team success and postseason recognition.

After being named the Kansas Gatorade Softball Player of the Year and leading Maize South to a 30-1 record, UNLV commit Sophie Stockam was named the Softball Player of the Year on the All-Metro team.

2025 Wichita Eagle All-Metro softball team

Ava Boden, Derby senior

A two-way threat for a Derby team that won 23 games and placed third at the Class 6A state tournament, Boden finished with a .322 batting average, 20 RBIs, 24 runs and a perfect fielding percentage in the outfield. She also compiled an 8-2 record in the circle with a 1.82 ERA, as she earned second-team all-state honors and first-team all-league honors in the AV-CTL Division I.

Carsen Carpenter, Derby senior

The biggest bat in the Derby lineup, the Cowley commit hit .429 with four home runs, 44 RBIs and 31 runs to help the Panthers take third in Class 6A. Carpenter was a first-team all-state selection in 6A and a first-team all-league player in AV-CTL Division I.

Brodie Christensen, Andover senior

One of the most consistent players in the area over her four-year career, Christensen hit .522 with 39 runs and 40 RBIs in her senior year for Andover. She was a first-team all-league outfielder in AV-CTL Division II and a first-team all-state selection in Class 5A.

Lila Collins, Maize junior

One of the biggest bats in the state, Collins smashed 13 home runs and 15 doubles this season for a Maize team that won 17 games. The junior outfielder was voted a first-team all-league player in AV-CTL Division I and a second-team all-state player in Class 6A.

Kinslee Cottner, Maize South sophomore

A versatile weapon for a 30-win Maize South squad that placed third in Class 5A, Cottner was a first-team all-league pitcher in AV-CTL Division I and a second-team all-state player in 5A. She finished with a perfect 14-0 record in the circle with a 1.64 ERA and 84 strikeouts, while hitting .485 at the plate with 10 home runs, 27 runs and 43 RBIs.

Madison Cross, Trinity Academy junior

One of the top catchers in the state, Cross hit .536 with six home runs, 46 runs, 43 RBIs and 16 stolen bases to help the Knights win 24 games and reach the Class 3A state tournament. The Kansas City commit was a first-team all-league catcher in Central Plains League and voted a second-team all-state player in 3A.

Karlie Demel, Derby junior

Armed with the bat to reach base often and the speed to cause chaos once on base, Demel was a second-team all-state pick in Class 6A after helping the Panthers place third at the state tournament. The McLennan commit finished with a .500 batting average, 30 runs and 21 stolen bases.

Ella Friederich, Andover senior

One of the most dangerous bats in the state, Friederich hit 11 home runs with 53 RBIs and a .557 batting average while playing first base this season. The Harding commit was voted a first-team all-league player in AV-CTL Division II and a first-team all-state selection in Class 5A.

Karli George, Eisenhower senior

The ace in the circle for Eisenhower who was voted the Pitcher of the Year in AV-CTL Division II. In league play alone, George finished with a 1.98 ERA and 61 strikeouts to go along with a .342 batting average, 13 RBIs and three home runs.

Kaylee Hampton, Clearwater senior

The MVP of AV-CTL Division IV, Hampton hit .485 with 15 doubles, 34 RBIs and 45 runs to help lead Clearwater to a semifinal appearance in the Class 4A state tournament. The Washburn commit was also voted a second-team all-state player in 4A and was a two-time All-Metro selection.

Kiersten Jones, Bishop Carroll junior

A key utility player for a 24-win Carroll team that returned to the Class 5A state tournament. Jones hit .517 and finished with 22 runs and 36 RBIs, while being voted a first-team all-state player in 5A.

Lizzy Lassley, Maize South senior

The rock behind the plate for a 30-win Maize South squad that placed third in Class 5A. The Butler commit hit .546 with five home runs, 55 runs and 34 RBIs this season, while being voted the Player of the Year in AV-CTL Division I and a first-team all-state catcher in 5A.

Ava Lay, Trinity Academy senior

The Player of the Year in the Central Plains League, Lay finished with a .545 batting average, 22 extra-base hits, five home runs, 43 RBIs, 55 runs and 30 stolen bases. The Grayson College signee was also voted a first-team all-state player in Class 3A after helping lead the Knights to 24 wins and a state appearance.

Allyson Orth, Bishop Carroll junior

Battled an injury to still produce massive numbers for a 24-win Carroll team that played in the state tournament. Orth finished with a .535 batting average, 36 runs and 23 RBIs while being voted a first-team all-league third baseman in the City League.

Abreya Perry, Valley Center junior

One of the most talented players to come through Wichita in some time, Perry has been committed to Texas A&M since before her junior season. The star outfielder helped the Hornets win 16 games and was voted a first-team all-league player in AV-CTL Division I and a first-team all-state player in Class 5A.

Sophie Stockam, Maize South senior

The Kansas Gatorade Softball Player of the Year who had a strong claim as the most dominant arm in the state this season. She helped power the Mavericks to 30 wins and a third-place finish in the Class 5A state tournament, as the UNLV commit finished with a 16-1 record, 0.59 ERA and 259 strikeouts in 119-plus innings while also hitting .430 at the plate with 11 home runs and 47 RBIs.

Taylin Tabor, Andover Central senior

The MVP of AV-CTL Division II, Tabor hit .485 with 29 runs and 19 RBIs while playing top-notch defense at shortstop. The Iowa Western commit is a first-time All-Metro selection.

Trista Welty, Clearwater junior

The ace in the circle who helped send Clearwater to the Class 4A state semifinals and win 25 games. Welty finished with a 17-3 record to go along with a 1.04 ERA and 171 strikeouts, not to mention a .333 batting average at the plate. She was a first-team all-league pitcher in AV-CTL Division IV and also voted a second-team all-state player in 4A.

Cody Stucky, Maize South coach

Led Maize South to a 30-1 record with its only loss coming in the Class 5A semifinals. The Mavericks rolled to another AV-CTL Division I championship and a perfect record entering the state tournament, ultimately claiming the third-place trophy.
