Introducing the Wichita Eagle All-Metro boys soccer team for 2025 season

The Wichita Eagle announced its annual All-Metro boys soccer team on Thursday, recognizing some of the best high school players in the state of Kansas from the 2025 season.

The All-Metro team features the top players and the top coach from Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties based on statistics, team success, postseason recognition and area coaches’ feedback.

Maize South senior forward Skylur Staley, who finished with 33 goals and 12 assists, was named the All-metro Boys Soccer Player of the Year after helping take the Mavericks back to the Class 5A state championship game.

Here is the full All-Metro team:

Aldo Acosta, Maize South junior

The Maize South junior midfielder floated between creator and finisher, earning first team all-league and first team Class 5A all-state honors. His 16 goals and 11 assists helped the Mavericks to 18 wins and a runner-up finish at the 5A state tournament.

Hussain Al-Amood, Andover senior

The Andover senior forward remained one of the area’s most reliable scoring threats, earning first team all-league and second team Class 5A all-state recognition. He paced the Trojans to 11 wins and secured All-Metro honors for the second straight year.

Lincoln Ashby, Southeast junior

The Southeast junior striker delivered 18 goals and 16 assists during a breakout season, earning second team City League honors and first team Class 6A all-state. He powered the Golden Buffaloes to 18 wins, a City League title and a fourth-place state finish.

Gus Bielefeld, North senior

The North senior midfielder controlled matches with his rugged two-way play, earning first team City League honors and Class 6A all-state recognition. He finished with eight goals and five assists, as his presence helped North win 11 games and advance to a regional championship.

Cole Ebert, Newton senior

The Newton senior outside back was a constant threat in attack, producing 10 goals and 4 assists from the back line. A first team all-league and first team Class 5A all-state pick, he helped the Railers finish 17-4 and place third in the 5A state tournament.

Jonathan Flores, East junior

The East junior forward emerged as the team’s top scorer and a dangerous City League attacker, earning first team all-league and second team Class 6A all-state honors. He led the Aces to 12 wins and a regional finals appearance.

Esnayder Garcia-Torrez, Newton senior

The Newton senior center back dominated defensively as the AV-CTL Division II MVP and Class 5A Defender of the Year. A first team all-state selection, he anchored a back line that drove the Railers to a 17-4 record and third-place state finish.

Jordy Kaba, Rose Hill senior

The Rose Hill senior midfielder set the tone for the 4-1A champions, earning first team all-league and first team all-state honors along with 4-1A Midfielder of the Year. He scored twice in the state final to secure the Rockets’ third title.

Brady Liebl, Rose Hill junior

The Rose Hill junior forward led the Rockets in scoring and claimed first team all-league and first team 4-1A all-state honors. His production fueled a 19-2 season and a run to the 4-1A state championship.

Micah Martin, Valley Center junior

The Valley Center junior center back anchored a steady Hornet defense and added three goals and five assists. A first team AV-CTL Division I pick, he helped the team secure 12 wins.

Diego Medina, Bishop Carroll senior

The Bishop Carroll senior goalkeeper delivered a season of highlight saves, earning first team City League and first team Class 5A all-state honors. His shot-stopping carried the Golden Eagles to 10 wins and a regional final.

David Mlendja, Southeast senior

The Southeast senior goalkeeper produced 11 shutouts and several critical saves during an 18-win season. A second team City League and second team Class 6A all-state pick, he helped the program to a league title and fourth-place state finish.

Brayden Pauler, Southeast junior

The Southeast junior winger scored a team-high 21 goals with six assists, earning second team City League and first team Class 6A all-state honors. He powered Southeast to 18 wins, a league title and a fourth-place state showing.

Roman Scognamillo, Kapaun Mt. Carmel senior

The Kapaun senior forward tallied 21 goals and 14 assists to earn first team City League and first team Class 5A all-state honors. His production led the Crusaders to 13 wins and a regional championship.

Skylur Staley, Maize South senior

The Maize South senior forward closed his career as AV-CTL Division I Player of the Year once again and a first team Class 5A all-state pick. He propelled the Mavericks to 18 wins and a 5A runner-up finish, earning All-Metro honors for the second time after netting 33 goals and dishing out 12 assists.

Alex Toribio-Triana, Newton senior

The Newton senior midfielder dictated tempo with 10 goals and five assists, earning first team all-league and first team Class 5A all-state recognition. He helped the Railers to a 17-4 season and third place at the 5A state tournament.

JoJo Triana, Rose Hill junior

The Rose Hill junior center back anchored a championship-level defense, earning first team all-league and first team Class 4-1A all-state honors. He led a back line that allowed just one goal during the entire postseason.

Gavin Wilson, Maize South senior

The Maize South senior center back was the backbone of an 18-win defense, earning first team AV-CTL Division I and first team Class 5A all-state honors. His steady play guided the Mavericks to the 5A state title match.

Jerry Treat, Rose Hill coach

The longtime Rose Hill coach delivered one of the most commanding postseason runs in Kansas this fall, guiding the Rockets to a 19-2 record and the Class 4-1A state championship without conceding a single goal in open play. It marked the third title of his tenure after leading Rose Hill to back-to-back crowns in 2014 and 2015, further cementing his legacy as one of the state’s most successful small-school coaches.
