Introducing the Wichita Eagle All-Metro girls soccer team for 2025 season
The Wichita area featured some of the best high school girls soccer players in Kansas this season, and that star power is highlighted on 2025 All-Metro team selected by The Eagle.
The All-Metro squad features the top players and coaches from teams in Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties. Selections are based on postseason recognition, feedback from area coaches, statistics and team success.
After leading Bishop Carroll to the program’s first state championship, senior forward Leah Henke was named the Girls Soccer Player of the Year on the All-Metro team.
2025 Wichita Eagle All-Metro girls soccer team
Sophia Baker, Trinity Academy junior
An Oklahoma State commit who made an instant impact for a Trinity team that won 14 games and played in the Class 4-1A quarterfinals. She finished with 18 goals and a team-high 13 assists, while being voted a first team all-state forward.
Abby Diefenderfer, Trinity Academy freshman
An instant threat for the Knights as a rookie, she finished with a team-high 22 goals to go along with four assists. She helped Trinity win 14 games and reach the Class 4-1A quarterfinals, while being voted a first team all-state forward.
Liza Dugan, Bishop Carroll junior
A 2-time All-Metro selection, Dugan was one of the most dangerous outside backs in the state who helped Carroll top off a historic 21-0 season with a Class 5A state championship. The Central Arkansas commit finished with 10 goals and 12 assists, while being voted a second team all-state defender in 5A.
Reese Fleming, Andover Central senior
A talented midfielder who produced 14 goals and six assists, while being voted team MVP for a 12-win season for the Jaguars. She was also voted a first team all-state player in Class 5A and a first team all-league selection in AV-CTL Division II.
Caroline Giroux, Maize South junior
The Central Arkansas commit spearheaded the back line at centerback for a 16-win Maize South team that reached the Class 5A quarterfinals. She was voted a second team all-state defender in 5A.
Leah Henke, Bishop Carroll senior
A 3-time All-Metro selection who finished her historic career with 88 goals, including one in the championship game that secured a 21-0 season and the program’s first state title. Henke, a Washburn commit, finished with 29 goals and 16 assists this season, while being voted a first team all-state forward in Class 5A.
Darby Howard, Bishop Carroll senior
The longtime running mate with Henke at the top of Carroll’s formation, Howard finished with 17 goals and nine assists. The Johnson County commit was voted a first team all-state player after helping Carroll go 21-0 and win its first Class 5A state championship.
Mackenzie Jordan, Eisenhower senior
The leading point-scorer on an 18-win Eisenhower squad that reached the Class 5A quarterfinals. The Northwest Missouri State commit finished with 19 goals and 19 assists to earn first team all-league honors at forward in AV-CTL Division II.
Nevaeh Kelly, Rose Hill senior
The rock on the back line for a 16-win Rockets team that placed third in Class 4-1A, the Hutchinson Community College commit helped record 10 shutouts at centerback. She was also voted the Defender of the Year in 4-1A and is a 2-time All-Metro selection.
Geni LaMarche, Maize South senior
One of the most creative and dangerous players in the state, LaMarche was voted a Co-Player of the Year in AV-CTL Division I. The North Dakota State commit, a 2-time All-Metro selection, also was voted a first team all-state forward in Class 5A.
Amelia Leggett, Derby sophomore
A top centerback in the area, Leggett spearheaded a back line that helped Derby win 15 games. She was voted a second team all-state defender in Class 6A and also a first team all-league defender in AV-CTL Division I.
Ava McAninch, Eisenhower senior
A stout defender who headed up one of the top defenses in the state, as Eisenhower won 18 games and reached the Class 5A quarterfinals. The Hutchinson Community College commit was voted a first team all-league defender in AV-CTL Division II.
Avery McCorry, Bishop Carroll junior
The final part of the 3-headed monster at the top for Carroll, McCorry finished with 19 goals and 14 assists on the program’s first 21-0 and championship team. She was also voted a first team all-state forward in Class 5A.
Sara Claire Michaelis, Kapaun Mt. Carmel sophomore
The dynamic presence at the top of the formation for a Crusaders team that won 15 games and placed third in Class 5A. She was voted a first team all-state forward in 5A and a first team all-league selection in the City league.
Hadley Ostrander, Maize South senior
A Fort Hays State commit was a star in goal this season for the Mavericks, as she helped the team win 16 games and win a Class 5A regional championship. She was voted an honorable mention all-state goalkeeper and a first team all-league selection in AV-CTL Division I.
Annabelle Schaefer, Kapaun Mt. Carmel junior
The top defender for a Kapaun team that won 15 games and placed third in Class 5A this season. She was voted a first team all-state defender in 5A and also a first team selection in the City League.
Lexee Shipp, Maize junior
The anchor in the back who kept it together for an injury-riddled Maize team that still won 14 games and reached the Class 6A semifinals. She was voted an honorable mention defender in 6A and a first team all-league player in AV-CTL Division I.
Chloe Smith, Eisenhower junior
The engine in the middle of the field for an 18-win Eisenhower team that reached the Class 5A quarterfinals, the Tarleton State commit was a two-way star. She finished with 16 goals and three assists, as she earned MVP honors in the AV-CTL Division II.
Maddy Spiers, Kapaun Mt. Carmel senior
Another dangerous threat in the Crusader attack, the Fort Hays State commit helped Kapaun win 15 games and place third in Class 5A. She was also voted a first team all-state forward in 5A.
Andrea Vielmas, Bishop Carroll freshman
The rookie made an immediate impact in the middle of the field for Carroll’s first 21-0 and championship squad. Vielmas finished with 13 goals and a team-high 17 assists, including a goal and assist in the state championship game. She was voted a first team all-state midfielder in Class 5A.
Maddie Weed, Bishop Carroll sophomore
The foundation of one of the stingiest defenses in the state, Weed was the top centerback on a Carroll team that went 21-0 and won its first Class 5A state title. She was voted a second team all-state defender in 5A.
Paige Winter, Rose Hill senior
The playmaker in the middle of the field for a 16-win Rose Hill team that placed third in Class 4-1A and was voted the Co-Midfielder of the Year for the class. Winter, a Nebraska Kearney commit, finished with 16 goals and 19 assists to break the program’s single-season record.
Greg Rauch, Bishop Carroll coach
The coach who orchestrated the first Wichita-area state championship team in Class 5A in Kansas history. Carroll was just the second team ever in state history to finish with a 21-0 record. After knocking on the door so many times the past decade, Rauch finally found the magic touch to push the Golden Eagles over the finish line against Kansas City’s best competition.
