Dodge City TOC Day 1

BY BROOKS SEELEY

It’s about 15 minutes until tip time and there’s is a ton of talent for the 67th annual Dodge City Tournament of Champions and today are the quarterfinals. Suprisingly, there aren’t any small schools here, five teams in Class 6A and three in 5A, but I like it. Let the big dawgs get in there and battle it out.

Check this out, here are the ranked/mentioned teams that are playing this weekend:  Wichita East (No. 3 overall and No. 2 in Class 6A), Wichita Heights (No. 4 overall, No. 3 6A), Hays (No. 10 overall, No. 5 5A), Dodge City is in “others” in 6A and Hutchinson and Gardner-Edgerton are in “others” for 5A. Manhattan is just two years removed from being the top seed in Class 6A and Shawnee Mission South rounds out the tournament.

Like I said, tons of talent here this week.

Here’s the schedule for today’s quarterfinals. Hays v. Hutchinson at 2 p.m., Heights v. Manhattan at 3:30 p.m., East v. Gardner-Edgerton at 7 p.m. and Dodge City v. Shawnee Mission South at 8:30 p.m.

Here’s a link to the live streaming that Dodge City High School is doing, http://www.dchssports.org/TOC/TOC.html , you do have to pay for it.

Here’s a link to the tournament bracket and stats, http://users.ucom.net/~bkmyers/TOC/TOC.html , if that doesn’t keep you updated enough, I will be keeping up with brackets at the end of each day.

I saw Joanna tweeted that K-State and Kentucky are sending coaches to watch Perry Ellis today. I’ll keep my out for anyone that I recognize and will pass on any exciting people I see.

I will update as often as I can…maybe every quarter, maybe a little more…if you’re lucky.
