Introducing the 2025 Wichita Eagle high school boys swimming and dive All-Metro team
The Wichita Eagle announced its All-Metro boys swimming team to recognize some of the best high school swimmers around the area from the 2025 Kansas season.
The All-Metro team features the top swimmers and a top coach from Sedgwick, Butler and Harvey counties. The team was selected based heavily on postseason performance.
Maize junior Zachary Rife, a two-time individual Class 6A state gold medalist, was named the All-Metro Swimmer of the Year. Listed below are the complete All-Metro teams.
All-Metro first team
Giani Benoit, Northwest senior
The state champion diver in Class 6A, as he scored a season-best score of 475.9 at the state meet.
Gage Cooper, Andale sophomore
Won the state championship in 5-1A in diving with a season-best score of 427.45 points.
Kooper Johnson, Maize senior
He finished runner-up in both of his events at the 6A state meet, as he took home the silver medals in the 200 individual medley (1:54.01) and 500 free (4:43.51). He also swam a leg on Maize’s 200 free relay (sixth) and 200 medley relay (eighth).
Nathan Lynch, Collegiate senior
A state champion in the 5-1A breaststroke with a time of 58.15 to go along with a silver medal in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:00.22. He also swam a leg on Collegiate’s title-winning 200 medley relay team and the 400 free relay (second).
Dylan Patterson, Eisenhower sophomore
A double gold medalist in his first state meet, Patterson won first place at the 5-1A state meet in the 50 free (21.84) and 100 free (46.76).
Zachary Rife, Maize junior
A two-time individual gold medalist, Rife won the 6A titles in the 200 free (1:40.60) and 100 free (46.10). He also swam a leg on Maize’s 200 free relay (sixth) 200 medley relay (eighth) that both took home a medal.
Thatcher Schmitz, Heights senior
A backstroke specialist, he finished sixth in the Class 6A state meet with a season-best time of 54.64.
Henry Studnicka, Kapaun Mt. Carmel junior
He finished runner-up in both of his events at the 5-1A state meet, taking the silver medal home in the 200 free (1:45.97) and the 100 backstroke (55.23). He also swam a leg on Kapaun’s 200 free relay (third) and 400 free relay (fifth).
Clark Young, Andover sophomore
The 5-1A state champion in the 200 individual medley with a season-best time of 1:56.49 to go along with a silver medal in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 59.41. He also swam a leg on Andover’s 200 medley relay (third) and 400 free relay (third).
Brett Ziser, Andover sophomore
A third-place finish at the 5-1A state meet in the 100 butterfly (54.00) highlighted a state performance that also included a seventh-place finish in the 50 free (22.43). He also swam a leg on Andover’s 200 medley relay (third) and 400 free relay (third).
Collegiate 200 medley relay
The squad of sophomore Karim Sandid, senior Nathan Lynch, junior Luke Cremin and senior Harry Ling won the 5-1A state title with a winning time of 1:38.82.
Kapaun Mt. Carmel 200 free relay
The squad of junior Rob Richardson, junior A.J. McLain, sophomore Allen Turner and junior Henry Studnicka placed third at the 5-1A state meet with a season-best time of 1:30.36.
Collegiate 400 free relay
The squad of junior Luke Cremin, senior Harry Ling, senior Nathan Lynch and sophomore Karim Sandid took second in the 5-1A state meet with a season-best time of 3:18.07.
Kelsie Biebighauser, Andover coach
After losing a loaded senior class, Biebighauser led Andover to a third straight team championship at the Class 5-1A state meet. The Trojans won the title by more than 100 points with a team score of 318 points. State-qualifying team members included Luke Farley, Evan Gauldin, Isaac Genereux, Braden Larson, Henry Lasater, Baul Lee, Jace Lessard, Mitchell McCracken, Jakob Pease, Alex Rosen, Blake Royse, Logan Sailsbury, Corbin Williams, Clark Young and Brett Ziser.
