Kansas high school 5-1A state bowling results: Kapaun, Carroll, Eisenhower contend

The same three teams were once again in the mix for the Kansas high school boys bowling Class 5-1A boys title with Topeka Seaman, Goddard Eisenhower and Kapaun Mt. Carmel all finishing within 21 pins of each other on Friday at Northrock Lanes.

Kapaun, the defending champion, led by 98 pins entering the Baker format, but Seaman exploded in four Baker games with a 902 score to surge ahead and win with a final team score of 3,483, 11 pins ahead of Eisenhower and 21 pins ahead of Kapaun.

Eisenhower placed three in the top-15 with senior Kyler Stockstill (692, fourth), senior Parker Douglass (668, ninth) and senior Drew Merrell (659, 13th). It was a 34-pin improvement on his season-best series for Stockstill.

The Crusaders had four come away with medals led by Patrick Bloomer with a 710 series, three pins behind individual champion Cody Metz of Washington Country. The other medalists were senior Cole Munley (658, 14th), senior Samuel Calderon (646, 15th) and senior Ben Wemhoff (635, 18th).

Others in contention at the top of the leaderboard were Wichita Trinity Academy junior Brady Longenecker, who rolled games of 267 and 246 en route to a 700 series for a third-place finish, while Buhler junior Trent Sheridan took fifth overall with a 690 series. Other area medalists included Wichita Central Christian senior Elijah Bryant (663, 11th) and the Bishop Carroll duo of senior Lawton Simons (684, seventh) and senior Cody Fox (623, 20th).

Bishop Carroll, the defending state champions, came within 29 pins of defending its title with a team score of 3,144 pins, short of champion Topeka Seaman.

The Golden Eagles had three medalists led by senior Kaylee Back, the defending individual champion, with a fourth-place finish with a 641 series, joined by junior Katie Limon (626, seventh) and senior Jewel Pham (561, 19th).

Other area medalists were Goddard junior Kaylee Laha (640, fifth), Augusta junior Alli Eastridge (629, sixth), Goddard Eisenhower sophomore Olyvia Choura (611, ninth), Augusta senior Kassidy Miller (608, 11th) and the Buhler duo of senior Kinley Nielsen (573, 16th) and Adria Huiett (560, 20th).
