KSHSAA cancels all Kansas high school sports through the end of the school year
The news all Kansas high school student-athletes dreaded to learn has come.
All Kansas high school sports and activities have been canceled through the end of the 2019-20 school year, the Kansas State High School Activities Association announced.
Gov. Laura Kelly ordered all schools in the state to close Tuesday, March 17 because of the spread of the coronavirus or COVID-19. KSHSAA has followed suit.
The cancellation affects baseball, softball, girls soccer, boys and girls track and field, boys golf, girls swimming and diving and boys tennis.

3 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 - Kansas begins all high school basketball state tournaments at six sites
10 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 - KSHSAA executive board of directors meets to discuss the effects of COVID-19
10:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 11 - KSHSAA announces all tournaments will continue as scheduled with spectators permitted
3 p.m. Thursday, March 12 - All state tournaments continue as scheduled
4:30 p.m. Thursday, March 12 - Executive board of directors meets for a second time to discuss
7 p.m. Thursday, March 12 - Executive board of directors meets a third time
8:34 p.m. Thursday, March 12 - KSHSAA announces all state tournaments will be canceled upon the end of the quarterfinal round
10:31 p.m. Thursday, March 12 - All state tournaments come to a close
4:44 p.m. Friday, March 13 - KSHSAA announces no alterations to the spring sports season
5:43 p.m. Sunday, March 15 - KSHSAA announces all spring sports are suspended through March 22, including practices
