Vikings claim Bishop Carroll grad Blake Bell off waivers
Bishop Carroll graduate Blake Bell, who has transitioned to tight end in the NFL, was claimed off waivers by the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday. He was cut by the San Francisco 49ers on Saturday.
Bell, 26, was a fourth-round pick by the 49ers out of Oklahoma, where he began his career as a quarterback and finished as a tight end. He caught 15 passes as a rookie for the 49ers and has caught on as a special teams player.
Bell is the third tight end on the Vikings’ roster, behind Kyle Rudolph and David Morgan.
