Southeast inducts seven into its hall of fame

Former Southeast girls basketball coach Doug Kinley, along with his 1986 and 1987 teams, will be inducted into the Buffaloes’ hall of fame on Friday.

The ceremony is at 5 p.m. Friday. Southeast is playing host to Bishop Carroll.

Kinley is the program’s winningest coach with 97 wins from 1981-88.

While he was 0-20 his first season, the Buffaloes won the Class 6A title in 1986 and 1987, taking second in 1988.

Those title teams were led by Kareema Williams, a three-time All-State selection by The Wichita Eagle.

Others being inducted are running back Virgil Boll, who played at Oklahoma; Dawn Buth, who was a professional tennis player; tennis player Rhain Buth, who won four singles titles and was unbeaten; assistant football coach John Dawkins; principal Jim Gates; and lineman and pitcher Doug Hoppock, who played football at Kansas State and in the USFL.
