Annual outdoors photo contest accepting entries

The 14th annual Wichita Eagle’s Great Outdoors Photo Contest will be taking entries through 5 p.m. Jan. 22.

Wichita Eagle photographers will select 15 adult and five youth (16 and under) finalists. The public will select the winners on Kansas.com beginning Jan. 27 and at the Wichita Sport Show Jan. 29-Feb. 1 at the Kansas Pavilions.

Winners will be announced on The Eagle’s Outdoors Page on Feb. 1.

All who submit an entry will receive one free admission to the Sport Show, available at the show’s ticket window. Those who vote at the Sport Show can register to win a copy of “Michael Pearce’s Taste of the Kansas Outdoors Cookbook.”

Contest rules

Only one photo entry per person, and it must include the name of the photo, the entrant’s name, phone number, and e-mail address. All entries must be taken by the entrant.

“Youth” must appear in the subject field for youth entrants, and all youth entrants must provide their age.

Photos should depict the beauty and/or enjoyment of the great outdoors.

Photos do not have to be from Kansas or taken within the last year.

Normal toning and cropping are allowed, other manipulated photos will be disqualified.

Sending your entry

E-mail: Entries should go to greatoutdoorsphotocontest@wichitaeagle.com. Size should be a minimum of 300K. “Great Outdoors Photo Contest” must appear in the subject field. The entrant’s contact information and the photo’s name are required to be in the contest.

Mail: Entries sent by mail must be 8-by10-inch prints and go to Great Outdoors Photo Contest, Wichita Eagle, 825 E. Douglas, Wichita, 67202. Proper-sized self-addressed envelopes must accompany prints if they are to be returned.

Drop-offs: Entries in envelopes can be dropped off at The Eagle’s front counter 8 a.m.-5 p.m. weekdays. Entries will not be held for later pick up.
