Fishing Report
LOCAL
Cheney: Walleye good on points, drop-offs and underwater humps using crankbaits. Crappie good near flooded vegetation using jigs or minnows. Catfish fair near windblown points using prepared baits and cut baits. White bass/wiper excellent on crankbaits or jigs in the river upstream of the reservoir or along the dam.
Council Grove: Saugeye fair on worms, jigs and crankbaits near flats. Wiper fair near windy rock banks on crankbaits and large jig/swimbaits. White bass fair in the river and creeks on jigs and spinners. Crappie fair near brush and rock banks 2-5 feet deep on jigs and minnows. Catfish fair using cut bait near windy flats and in creek mouths.
El Dorado: Crappie fair to good using jigs or minnows in brush 6-7 feet deep. Wiper fair crankbaits off rocky wind blown shorelines and points using jigs or crankbaits. Catfish fair to good in the creeks during inflows using worms or cut bait or along windy points on shad sides, worms or cut bait.
Marion: Catfish fait to good in areas of inflows or along windy shorelines using fresh cut bait or stinkbaits. Walleye slow. Wiper fair to good pulling crankbaits with a boat or casting jigs and crankbaits from shoreline.
KANSAS
Cedar Bluff: Crappie fair to good over steep dropoffs using jigs and small spoons. White bass/wipers good to excellent along the dam and associated sandy points casting white jigs. Walleye good off well-defines points and drop-offs using jigs tipped with nightcrawlers.
Fall River: White bass fair in deep holes in the river and below riffles using jigs or spinners. Catfish good using a worm, stinkbaits or shad sides in current in river, Otter Creek and outlet. Crappie fair using minnows or jigs where water is entering the reservoir in Casner Creek and Badger Creek.
Glen Elder: Crappie fair to good using minnows or small jigs in 2-3 feet of water in main lake coves or slab spoons along the west end channel breaks in 12 feet of water. Walleye good along the river channel in 18-22 feet of water in the west half of the reservoir using jig-n-crawler or jig-n-minnow. White bass/wipers good along the Cawker City causeway and river channels west of the causeway and along the dam or on the north side of the lake in coves with strong south winds using slab spoons and rattletraps. Catfish good in the creeks feeding into the reservoir, especially Mill Creek, Oak Creek, Carr Creek and Walnut Creek using dead shad, stinkbaits and shad gizzards.
Kanopolis: White bass fair in the river upstream of reservoir using jigs and flashy lures. Walleye/saugeye fair to good near Loder Point and the tower using crankbaits. Wipers fair using minnows or trolling soft baits on shallow flats near the river channel or wind-blown points. Catfish fair in 4-10 feet of water or shallower in the afternoons/evenings using cutbait and worms. Crappie good on brushpiles and in Marina Cove with small jigs and minnows.
Lovewell: Crappie good using jigs or small slab spoons around the marina and off the Cedar Point and Cabin Point brushpiles. Catfish fair to good in coves and creek channels using shad sides, shad gizzards, chicken livers and stinkbaits. Walleye fair to good along the 2-mile road area as well as the river channel near Oak Hill, to Pawnee Point using jig-crawler or jig-n-worm combo. White bass/wiper fair to good casting roadrunners, mister twisters and Kastmasters.
Milford: Catfish good near wind blown shorelines and channel ledges in the upper end on cut bait. Largemouth bass fair to good using jerkbaits and jigs on points by flooded coves. Crappie fair to good near brush, points and coves using jigs and minnows suspended 2-5’ deep. Smallmouth bass good on points by flooded coves using jerkbaits, spinnerbaits and jigs. Walleye fair near deeper flats using worms.
Toronto: Crappie fair using minnows or jigs where water is entering reservoir, Walnut Creek riffles and Verdigris River riffles. White bass fair using jigs or spinners in deep holes and below riffles in the river and Walnut Creek. Catfish good in current in river, Walnut Creek and spillway using a worm, stinkbaits or shad sides.
Tuttle Creek: Catfish fair in recently flooded vegetation or where creeks enter the reservoir using cutbait. Crappie fair using minnows or jigs in 5-10 feet of water along creek channels or near steeper banks in north part of reservoir. White bass slow to fair in streams feeding the lake and Big Blue River using crankbaits.
Wilson: Walleye fair to good using 3- 4-inch swimbaits early mornings or late evenings on shallow wind-blown points and rocky shorelines and along the dam. Stripers fair on the west end, Hell Creek and near the dam at moderate depths using live shiners, spinners or shad-imitation jerkbaits. Catfish fair near the river channel and off points in water less than 8 feet toward sundown using cutbait or worms.
