Low Plains Early Zone Duck Season – through Dec. 4, Dec. 17-Jan. 1

Cheyenne Bottoms WA: Total duck numbers 20,000-30,000, mostly shoveler, green-winged teal and gadwall, plus 30,000-50,000 white-fronted geese are present. Pools 1A is 22 inches, 1B and 1C are 30 inches, Pool 2 is 18 inches, Pools 3A is 14 inches, 3B is dry except for trapped water, 4A is 19 inches, 4B is 19 inches and Pool 5 is 14 inches. Hunting conditions are fair to good. Success expected to be fair to good.

Jamestown WA: Water levels are good to excellent. Approximately 2,000 ducks, mostly ringnecks, redhead, gadwall and mallards, are present, along with a few geese moving in throughout the week. Hunting conditions are good to excellent, with good water and habitat conditions. Success expected to be fair.

McPherson Valley Wetlands: Water levels good, marshes are 90 percent full. Approximately 1,500 ducks were observed, mostly teal, pintail, gadwall and wigeon, along with 100 white-fronted geese. Hunting conditions are good to excellent. Success expected to be fair.

Texas Lake: Approximately 150 ducks, mostly mallards, shovelers and pintails, were observed. Pool 1, 2, 3B, 3D, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9 are full. Hunting conditions are good. Hunting success expected to be fair.

Low Plains Late Zone Duck Season – through Jan. 1, Jan. 7-29

Cedar Bluff: Water level is 25.0 feet below conservation pool. Approximately 2,500 ducks are present along with 600 Canada geese and 300 white-fronted geese. Conditions rated fair, with little flooded vegetation. Success expected to be fair.

Council Grove: Water level is 0.1 feet above conservation pool. Approximately 600 ducks are on the area. Hunting conditions rated difficult, with bare shorelines making hunter concealment challenging. Success rated fair.

Glen Elder: Water level is 0.9 feet above conservation level. Approximately 4,500 ducks, mostly divers including redheads, ringnecks and ruddy ducks, 300 Canada, 400 white-fronted and 500 snow geese are present. Hunting conditions are fair, with abundant flooded vegetation. Hunting success expected to be fair.

Lovewell: Water level is 0.1 feet above conservation pool. Very few waterfowl are present. Hunting conditions are fair to good, with flooded shoreline habitat. Hunting success expected to be poor.

Marion: Water level is 0.1 feet below conservation pool. Approximately 800 waterfowl are on the area, including mallard, pintail, goldeneyes, snow geese and white-fronted geese. Hunting conditions are fair, with good vegetation present for hunting cover. Expected hunting success is fair.

Quivira: Whooping cranes have been seen recently on the area and Quivira is closed to hunting. Water levels fair to good, with water in many hunting pools. South marsh is dewatered for control structure repairs. No recent waterfowl numbers are available. Hunting conditions fair. Success is expected to be fair to good. Webster: Water level is 3.0 feet below conservation pool. Approximately 800 ducks, with teal and a mix of fall migrants, are present, along with approximately 400 Canada geese. Hunting conditions are fair to good, with good flooded shoreline vegetation. Hunting success expected to be poor.

Low Plains Southeast Zone Duck Season – through Jan. 1, Jan. 7-29

El Dorado: Water level is 0.1 feet above conservation pool. Approximately 200 ducks, mostly mallards and gadwalls, and 200 Canada geese are present. Hunting conditions are poor with little waterfowl attracting vegetation available. Hunting success expected to be poor.

Elk City: Water level is 0.5 feet above conservation pool. Approximately 2,400 ducks, mostly teal, gadwall and wigeon, are present. Hunting conditions are fair. Hunting success expected to be fair to good.

Fall River: Water level is 1.6 feet below conservation level. Approximately 2,800 ducks on the area, including mallards, pintails, gadwall and redheads. Hunting conditions are difficult due to recent water level fluctuations. Expected hunting success to be fair.

Marais des Cygnes: Approximately 28,000 mixed ducks, mostly teal and mallards, and 50Canada geese are present. Most marshes have fair to good water. Hunting conditions are rated good. Success expected to be fair.

Neosho: Approximately 12,500 mixed ducks are on the area. Water levels poor. Hunting conditions fair, with tall vegetation. Hunting success expected to be fair.

High Plains Duck Season - through Jan. 1, Jan. 20-29

Norton: Water level is 13.3 feet below conservation pool. Approximately 300 ducks observed on the area, along with 50 geese. Recent reservoir rise has inundated terrestrial vegetation. Hunting conditions are fair to good. Hunting success expected to be poor to fair.
