Wingnuts clinch another division crown
The Wingnuts clinched the American Association South Division title with an 8-3 win over Joplin on Wednesday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Matt Chavez hit two home runs to power the Wingnuts’ attack. Tyler Kane, making his second appearance for Wichita, pitched six innings and picked up the win.
The win gave Wichita its sixth straight division championship. The Wingnuts play their final regular-season home game on Thursday; Wichita wraps up the regular season with a four-game trip to Laredo beginning Friday.
The American Association playoffs begin Wednesday.
