Wichita Wingnuts

Wingnuts win another at home

The Wingnuts’ bullpen pitched 8 1/3 innings of scoreless relief, allowing Wichita plenty of time to come back for a 6-3 over Joplin on Tuesday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Wingnuts starter Anthony Capra struggled with control from the start, walking the first three batters he faced on 13 pitches. Capra retired the next two hitters, then walked three more as the Blasters took a 3-0 lead before Eddie Medina replaced Capra and got the final out of the first.

Medina went another four inning, keeping Joplin off the scoreboard while his teammates took the lead.

The Wingnuts pieced together four runs in the bottom of the first with two singles, two doubles and a walk. They added two runs in the fifth on Harrison Kain’s two-run single.

Four more Wingnuts relievers each threw a scoreless inning to close out the win.
