Wingnuts begin homestand with 7-1 win
Harrison Kain hit a home run in his first at-bat since being activated from the disabled list, the big blow in a five-run first inning that sent the Wingnuts on the way to a 7-1 win over Texas on Friday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
Kain, who is batting .343 this season, hadn’t played since Aug. 12. His two-run homer capped the five-run first.
Kain, who also spend two weeks on the DL in July, took the roster spot of Richard Prigatano, who went on the DL Friday.
Newcomer Tyler Kane made his first start for the Wingnuts, limiting the AirHogs to one unearned run in five innings. Kane, 24, spent parts of the past three seasons in the Marlins organization.
The win kept the Wingnuts in first place, 3 1/2 games ahead of Laredo in the American Association South Division with 10 games left in the season.
