Almarante, Fargo blank Wingnuts 1-0
Jose Almarante shut out the Wingnuts for eight innings Wednesday night, getting a save from Colton Reavis to lift Fargo-Moorhead past Wichita 1-0 in an American Association game at Fargo, N.D.
Almarante (3-1) gave up three hits and struck out seven over eight innings, lowering his season ERA to 2.59. That overshadowed a seven-inning, one-run outing by Wingnuts starter Todd Kibby (1-3).
The game’s only run came on Mike Gilmartin’s fifth-inning, two-out home run on a 2-0 count.
