Wingnuts strike early, beat AirHogs 6-4
The Wingnuts opened a three-game trip to Texas with a 6-4 win over the AirHogs on Tuesday night in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Maize graduate Garrett Gould made his fourth start for the Wingnuts. He struck out five batters in three innings, but three walks elevated his pitch count.
Wichita scored three runs in the first and never trailed. The lead grew to 5-0 on Christian Stringer’s two-run double in the fourth. After Texas pulled within 5-2, the Wingnuts tacked on a run in the seventh on a sacrifice fly by Brent Clevlen.
Texas’ Burt Reynolds hit a two-run homer in the eighth of Wingnuts reliever Eddie Medina.
