Wingnuts cruise past Canaries 10-2
Alex Boshers pitched a complete game and his teammates took advantage of gifts from Sioux Falls in the Wingnuts’ 10-2 win on Saturday night at Lawrence--Dumont Stadium.
Boshers (5-3) limited the Canaries to eight singles and struck out a career-best six while throwing a complete game for the second time in his last three starts.
Sioux Falls outhit Wichita 8-7, and only two Wingnuts hits went for extra bases. But plenty of Wichita batters reached base in other ways. Zack Cox walked and scored in the first inning. Martin Medina and Richard Salgado opened the second inning with walks, and both scored. T.J. Mittelstaedt walked and Medina was hit by a pitch in the third inning, and both scored. Sioux Falls also committed three errors that led to two unearned runs.
Mittelstaedt hit a two-run homer in the first.
The series continues at 1 p.m. Sunday.
