Wingnuts rally for win over RedHawks

Martin Medina’s bases-loaded single drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth, giving the Wingnuts a 4-3 victory over Fargo-Morehead on Friday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.

Christian Stringer opened the ninth with a single. He was forced out at second on a Zack Cox grounder. A single by Brent Clevlen and and walk for T.J. Mittelstaedt loaded the bases for Medina.

Wichita railled from a 3-1 deficit with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings. Clevlen drove in Harrison Kain with a double in the seventh, and Medina drew a leadoff walk in the eighth and scored three batters later on an error by RedHawks shortstop Bryan Johns.

Starting pitcher Ryan Kussmaul made his first appearance with the Wingnuts, going five innings and allowing two unearned runs.
