Wingnuts open homestand with 5-1 win over T-Bones
The Wingnuts returned home and resumed winning, beating the Kansas City T-Bones 5-1 on Tuesday night at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium.
The Wingnuts went 6-1 last week on the road, including a sweep of a three-game series at Kansas City. After a day off Monday, the Wichita offense picked up where it left off with 11 hits against three KC pitchers. Leo Vargas was 2 for 4 and hit a two-run double in the sixth inning to help break open a tight game.
Wingnuts starting pitcher Jon Link limited the T-Bones to six baserunners in seven innings, and relievers Chad Nading and Frankie Reed finished up with two scoreless innings.
The victory moved the Wingnuts (13-12) into a tie with Laredo for first place in the American Association South Division.
